I'd get engaged right away if my boyfriend asked me... I'm 18. Cus being engaged doesn't mean you must get married like the same year or something. You can wait a few years. Being engaged is just a stronger commitment and I really want that.

This is very true.  Being engaged shows an intent to marry.  It doesn't mean you have to get married right away.

19 or 20 engaged and 22 to 23 marriade

23ish for marriage. Children once you have settled jobs, which in my case, would be 28 or so.

For me, I'd say 24 for engaged, 25-26 for married, then 27+ for having kids. I want to start having kids before I'm 30, but I also want at least 6-9 months for an engagement to have time to really make plans and prepare for marriage. Then I want to be married a year or two before having kids to allow time for adjusting to married life before a child is added into the equation.

Mid 20s.

-- Posted by Chiefette at 12:17 pm on Jan. 6, 2009

I got engaged at 18.  Married at 19.

-- Posted by See Me Now at 12:18 pm on Jan. 6, 2009

For me, I would be comfortable being engaged as early as 18, no marriage until 20, then no kids until I'm done with school, around 26 or so.

All of this dependent on me being with someone I would like to marry. I mean, I'm 19 in two weeks, and have no plans on getting married, but my parents were engaged at 18 and married at 20, and it worked just wonderful for them.

Engagement (which doesn't really matter to me as it is a very light term young couples throw around these days as some sort of symbol to show undying love) and Marriage in my late 20's as I want to live the best years of my life unhinged, then I will settle down.

I wouldn't care when I got engaged. It's how long I would want the engagement to last. Depending on what our situations are like when I get engaged, I would want to wait until we have our careers started until we got married.

-- Posted by Chiefette at 1:00 pm on Jan. 6, 2009

That was our main consideration when we got married.  My husband already had a career going, and I had a good job.  I was in school, and we had originally planned on waiting til I was out of school, but we ended up only having a 9 month engagement.

Precisely. And I forgot to say that if you have a plan to get married with him/her some time in the future anyways, getting engaged just shows you're serious about the whole thing, not just fooling around.
