One of my friends wants me to come over to her house and teach her how to make herself throw up, and any foods that come up better. She said she wanted to become a bulimic.

Two girls in my AP human geography class were asking me on how the can get rid of hunger pangs easier, and filling low-calorie foods, and exercise tips.  They said they wanted to become anorexic.

Firstly, why the hell would you want to have an eating disorder?

Secondly, WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU ASKING ME TO HELP YOU?

I don't get it.

Maybe if you didn't go around flaunting that you had an eating disorder, they wouldn't know 0.o

Srsly.  I know I wouldn't go around telling people I barfed up every meal.

People think they want to have eating disorders because they want to be skinny, they have this glamorous ideas of models and celebrities. I think they probably think an eating disorder is a temporary solution to weight loss.

This is truly a very sad state of affairs and is what the world is coming to in this day and age. The media influence on teenagers at the moment is phenomenal. They see pictures in magazines of emaciated women and think it is normal to be that way and strive to look just like them. Also, the words anorexia and bulimia are not fully understood by teenagers, where many think it is cool to have an eating disorder. If they understood the pain and suffering that people with eating disorders suffer with every moment of their life, they would immediately see that eating disorders are not cool and they are not a life style choice, it is a cruel, life destroying disease.

If you are suffering from an eating disorder yourself, then you must find it extremely hard when people ask you these things. You just need to tell them the truth about eating disorders, inform them about what it is really like which should put them off. Never, ever assist them with anything that may develop an eating disorder in anyone as this could potentially destroy their life forever.

Personally, i have found that people in my school do not understand eating disorders, in particular anorexia. So, to combat this i have been planning a talk to do in front of the school to help prevent eating disorders from developing and to help people fully understand. However, this should only be done once in a state of recovery, because only then can you explain truthfully what an eating disorder is.

I hope this helps you and good luck.

Everyone used to think I was anorexic until they saw me eat and then thought I was bulimic because they think I'm super-skinny.

But I'm not.

At least you're the skinny girl they ask about it not the fat girl they don't want to be.
Sorry, not helpful at all. First thing that popped into my mind, though.
