I have been hearing alot about how there aren't many black head football coaches. Is it me or does that not annoy other people. Honestly why does it matter that there isn't that many black football coaches. Maybe it's just that there aren't many good ones out there?

It's because there aren't enough black football players.

I despise their argument.  Maybe they aren't just as good of a coach? Jesus.

It's weird. Especially in college football and even more specifically in the SEC.

There are a lot. Maybe not in college and pros, but there are plenty.

Why does it matter anyway?

Its a lie. Charlie Strong at Florida is a prime example. He is more qualified then most assistants that got jobs that were not black.

The "problem" is he is in a interracial marriage, as his wife is white. It is the reason a lot of southeastern schools shy away and they won't openly admit it.

You're both completely wrong. Approximately fifty percent of college football players are black. According to yahoo sports in college football, "Fifty percent black athletes leads to 25 percent black assistant coaches leads to 3 percent black head coaches." There is no way that all most this justifies the scarcity of black head coaches. In comparison the NFL, which places more emphasis upon performance (i.e booster have less influence), has far more black head coaches (21%). There are a ton of black assistant coaches many of whom are definitely more qualified than current head coaches. It is primarily in college (where boosters have undue influence) that this disparity exists. The reason that this is a problem is because overly qualified people are being passed over due to race. We have examples such as:

Charlie Strong-Florida Defensive Coordinator:Never offered a head coaching job.

Ron Aiken-2002 Assistant Coach Of The Year, 30 years experience, his teams were top ten in the nation against the run in 2002,2003,2004:Never offered a coordinator/head coaching job.

James Franklin-Maryland Offensive Coordinator:Never offered a head coaching job.
