A lot of times the eHelp asker isn't satisfied with the reply that's given. My idea is to only take the eHelp out of the inbox when they give two positive replies. That way, they can definitely get the support they need.

If the person never rates the replies, though, two replies should kick it out of the inbox, and it should only be put back if the poster of the eHelp  eventually badly rates 1+.

Thoughts?

Bad idea. Some people that post eHelps give bad rating no matter what.

It wouldn't work.

It wouldn't work. Some people in the eHelps section only post to give negative feedback to some of the support leaders, i've seen it happen.

I agree with Peter, it wouldn't work.

You really like your idea - posting it 4 times! But I see your point, just maybe not too realistic.

Whoops, how did that happen?

Idea: Lose the Wal-Mart internet connection.

You have more important things to worry about than suggesting lackluster ideas.  I  won't discuss them on open forum, but yeah, shitty idea.

Shut up, Tyrone. You can just say you didn't like the idea and be done with it.

Bad idea. People don't always vote on the feedback they get, and some people vote negatively on purpose, or just because they didn't like what they heard.

I don't like the idea. As Nikki said quite a lot of eHelp replies never get feeback, and sometimes the feedback is just on the basis of whether or not it said what the poster wants it to say. Should we only give advice that the poster wants to hear? Not say what the best options may be on the basis the poster doesn't want to know? I think our role should be more to present available options than write what the poster wants to hear. Does that make sense?

-- Posted by noraa at 6:50 pm on Jan. 8, 2009

Yeah, that makes sense.

I just think there should be some way of making sure the asker is satisfied.

Maybe making it three replies to get it out of the box?

-- Posted by Arguia at 10:34 pm on Jan. 8, 2009

Possibly it should be trialled for a week or so, to see if eHelps get the 3 replies of not.

No. We had that for a while and eHelp numbers just piled up. I don't see that there's any issue with how it is at the moment really - as in, I don't see how how changing to this new method would make any kind of real difference.

I just feel like some members aren't getting the help they need with two replies.

-- Posted by nikki at 4:36 am on Jan. 9, 2009

Tbh, the entire eHelp system needs a complete revamp. I e-mailed David several times after I made two topics to get some feedback on how to improve eHelp and the serious forum, but I never heard anything back from him.

I know how you feel, Nora, but I don't think upping the number of replies needed will really help unfortunately. The whole system needs to be changed for it to have any kind of real impact.

Yeah, I see your point.

Oh, well. I hope David does something soon :(

I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon. The whole eHelp and serious forum situation has needed updating and changing for a long time now.
