Running is an easy way to get in shape.
Walking helps too though.

I definitely think running is the best cardio... I prefer to run outside but I also like running on the tredmill at the gym.

running is great cardio. However, when I run on the street my knee really hurts. I don't know why, I guess it's too solid?

It could be your stride or the shoe that you're wearing. I had the same problem and it was because my shoes were stability shoes. Go to a speciality running store and have them look at your feet if you're really serious about running. You could also try running on grass. That would give you more cushioning!

Swimming is probably the "best" cardio because it's a lot better for your joints. However, I enjoy walking and running. If you haven't been doing regular cardio, it might be best to start out walking (make sure you get at a fast enough pace to get your heart rate into the target range) then work up to running.  Biking is great, too!

My work out routine is pretty much dead..

10-15 minute cardio with 2 minute rests
5.5mph for 3-5 minutes
3.5-4mph walk for 1 minute
5.8 mph run for 3-5 minutes
3.5-4mph walk for minute
6 mph run for 2-3 minutes
3.5mph walk cool down

Need ideas for weighlifting

I think boxing and swimming is nice. Add up some sporty game like basketball.
