-- Posted by Anonymous at 4:56 pm on Jan. 8, 2009 okay.  i met this really sweet guy on youtube.  we've been talking for a while and we're......kinda....sorta.....dateing? its complicated but he loves me very much and i love him but we've never met in real life so im not sure about him all of the time so i doubt his love . my computer got hacked and i sent him this - "WTF did u hack my computer! today i got on and all my shit was GONE! i had my moms friend tom get the infected files out but he said it could have been someone i talked 2 on the internet. I'm so pissed right now! Here's a tip: Hackers/scammers use social engineering to rip you. If he's a hacker/scammer, he knows you care about him and he knows all about guilt and he's going to use it against you. It happens, don't be so foolish. My boyfriend was hacked not even 3 months ago and had to actually call Yahoo and have them shut down his accounts because he must have gotten a keylogger. And I even spoke to the hacker for a few minutes before Yahoo booted him off. He didn't mess with any of my boyfriend's really important accounts, he just messed with random ones. Why do you think he did it? For fun. It's just amusing to fuck with people. And you know how it happened? He probably picked it up from an FF game site he visited, it was the only place he could have gotten it. And there are a myriad of reasons people do stuff like this, all of which I'm currently learning about in my security class, so if you want to know why someone would do it, you might want to consider taking one yourself because it's people like you who get hacked in the first place. The OP is at least smart enough to know it happens and can happen to her. People like you who try to rationalize it and tell yourself, "Oh, that's silly, why bother?" are the ones who are easiest to manipulate. It's simple -- it's fun and these people don't care about you. The ones who do harm don't like you, they don't care, they care so little that if you were to die tomorrow, they're probably try to make a profit. They don't think like you so you'd do well to try and think like them.
