Swagger jacked. But, yeah. In my experience, why does everyone and their mother need an in depth explanation of my race? Like unlike 1,000 other black folks who love to fabricate their ethnicity together, I do not know much of my ethnicity, just that both my parents self-identify with black, their grandparents do, their great-grandparents, and so on and so forth. For generations, we have been labelled as black, and nothing more. So, how do you expect me to pull out some random race to explain why I "look mixed" "don't look or sound black"? Technically, everyone's mixed --- esp in USA and even more in BR. But that doesn't mean anything that my mom's Brazilian, or my father's African-American. And no, my mom's not a mestiza or typical latina looking Brazilian. She's pure de negro, preta, Afro-Brazilian. And my dad's family is historically Creole, but always self-identified with black. If no one's noticed, I have little tolerance for people who really don't leave me be when I tell them "I'm black". So, to prevent future ramblings and rants on racial identity, don't ask.

I think it's because people don't believe you, or believe that you should know your own heritage. Or your eye color, if it's fake, it makes people get thrown off.

African-Americans with slave ancestry, had their ancestors brought over as slaves. Records were not kept on who they married or made children with, so it's practically impossible for us to trace our roots. It's a little easier on my mother's side, because BR is all about race in relation with other things, but still, it stems down to the same thing with slave trade and no records. I can't know my own heritage, and why the hell wouldn't people believe? Black people, especially those in USA, come in all colors and types.

Yeah, but your look is more exotic. I'm guessing your eye color is fake, so that just throws people more off. Dark hair/light eyes or vice versa is considered exotic, so it's kind of asking for it since it's a look you're after.

They're not fake, forgot to address that, but still that's like that's retarded as fuck if I did wear blue stickers in my eyes and complained as to why people asked me if I was mixed. That'd be unhelpful.

Ah well, it's the eyes that throw people off I'm pretty sure. You're probably mixed with something that you're unaware of, so i guess just say you only know you're Black or something.

I'll tell you this once but only from witnessing it time after time....you are an attractive black woman. An attractive black woman is questioned ethnically almost always. A black woman's physical appeal can only rise to the caliber of Aunt Jemimah from most people's perspectives and it's the sad truth. But you're black and as annoying as it is to explain it to the ignorant people that hassle you all the time, take comfort knowing you look good. Don't build an ego from what I just said either.

Thanks for the compliment or whatever, but I don't think that's the case, atleast for me. I noticed that with attractive black women -- no matter their color or whatever, she is questioned to be "mixed with something", because people can't fathom the idea of a woman being fully black parentage as well as pretty. Though, I have noticed no matter what a person looks like, the question is always asked because people just associate black, African or whatever, with being stupid, ugly, etc and like to wear this false badge on their chest, to denote that they're not like "any ordinary black person" cause their baby mom's grandpa's dick's brother's dog is 1/64 Cherokee. Like no. Don't worry. My ego is only built on the fact I go to an excellent school and will do something with my life, while the people who doubt me will do nothing.

Well do you have ocular albinism? If not - you probably have White ancestors, not that it would be a surprise. But if you REALLY have no idea about your family - take a genetic test. They're flawed but they're not horribly inaccurate. AncestryByDNA may work - it's one of the cheaper ones. A lot of the other tests are centered around Whites.
