When I want something, I constantly obsess about the thing that I want. I constantly think about that ONE thing until I get it. And if it means having to wait for it, I'd obsess even more..and have constant thoughts about it.

can this be a slight form of OCD

OCD is when everything must be a certain way, you are a perfectionist, always planning, etc
What you are describing is material obsessions, that's normal

Sometimes I can't wait anymore and it makes me go INSANE

Obsessive-Compulsive:
Definition -
denoting or relating to a disorder in which a person feels compelled to perform certain meaningless actions repeatedly in order to alleviate obsessive fears or intrusive thoughts, typically resulting in severe disruption of daily life.

Does this sound like you?

No, but maybe obsessive compulsiver PERSONALITY disorder.  If you obsess about something material, that makes you obviously materialistic and probably spoiled.

OCD is things like:

Having to touch a door knob 4 times.
If something touches your left thigh, it must also touch your right thigh.
You do everything in counts of 8 (or other even number).

Things like that.

No, you're just obsessive. OCD is like a paranoia bout something...having to check if something's on over and over, having to touch certain things at certain times, stuff like that.

OCPD doesn't exist.

You're just materialistic and spoiled.

How is that being materialistic and spoiled? I don't see the connection

I don't really know if you have it. It sounds like you have some symptoms of it, but then again, the condition itself is just, well, a group of symptoms grouped together. So, I'd be more concerned about why you feel the way you do. Some people I've talked to who were like this were so because they were trying to distract themselves from something, subconsciously at least.

I mean, it's nice to have some definite 'name' for it, I just don't think that's important in the long run.

trust me, if you had OCD? you'd know...cus it borderlines fear driven phobias

You obsess over something and won't stop until you get it.

but its driving me fucking INSANE! this can't be 'normal'

-- Posted by thegeek at 11:10 pm on Jan. 9, 2009

I have a problem with how things are positioned and when people don't use their windshield wipers. If neither are fufilled I get really annoyed and tense. I also sometimes have to check 4 times before i know my alarm clock is set. those are just a few.

-- Posted by Anonymous at 11:12 pm on Jan. 9, 2009

And it's not even materialistic things, it can be ANY kind of desire...like for example, meeting a close friend I really like or something

I mean, we all have our reasons for feeling the way we do. What is 'normal' varies a lot, especially with the circumstances.
