Hi. That one is golden to start a conversation. Try to get onto the topic of music.

Give someone a compliment. Not a creepy one. "Where'd you get that shirt? I love that band."

Alright I'm going to give you something good. Remember in the future for all your relationship needs, I'm the man to come to. You better not be a coward and not do this, because it does work.

Call HER. When she says hello, say "hello" back, repeat like three times in different tones of voice, then laugh and ask her, "Do you know why no one ever catches leprechauns?"

"No why doesn't anyone catch leprechauns?"

"Because they're actually six feet tall, everyone just assumes they're tiny, so they never find them."

When I've done this, I've always been very drunk, which adds to the effect, because I'm completely serious, but also drunk, so she is less likely to take me seriously.

This will start a conversation.

This is real advice, and not a joke to make fun of you, if you use this and deliver it well, it will start a good conversation.

Good luck.

It is hard.
Open ended questions about something general maybe so you get a better sense about them, it buys you more time.

ask a open ended question .... for example 'do you come here often'
