my best friends birthday party was today. and i didn't go.
one of the reasons was because i spent all day teaching at my dance studio.
the more dominant reason was because of how awkward it would have been. honestly, i've never felt so alone in a room full of people, as when i've hung out with her and all of them. it's like i'm there, but not acknowledged nor conversed to.
so i just texted her that i couldn't make it.
but i don't know what i'm going to say come Monday when she asks me what happened.
and now i feel like a douche bag.
gahh! i need an excuse.

>_<

Tell her the truth: you feel awkward around her friends. If she's your best friend, she'll understand.

I agree. Tell her that you hate awkward situations. She'll understand. I have friends that I dont like hanging out w/ when they're with their certain other friends. It's normal.

Whatever you do, don't lie about it. If you lied about it and she found out, you would make the situation 10x's worst then you think it already is. I think it'd be best if you just told her the truth in a better way, of course. And when I say in a better way I don't mean by dressing it up with lies I mean by explaining a bit more and going in to detail instead of just telling her blatantly because she'd probably take it the wrong way.

Just be honest and tell her that you're not going to lie, you feel uncomfortable around those people that she's around and when you're around them you feel as if you're not even there because you feel like no ones noticing you and like you're in a room full of strangers. That's all you have to say, there's nothing to it and you definitely won't have to lie.

And also, you shouldn't feel like a "douche", I mean you have your reasons BUT I don't think you should let your reasons take advantage of you every time. Next time you should go regardless of how you THINK it will be, you didn't even try to go to see what would happen. If you don't think people will talk you and you think they'll leave you out of stuff then join in yourself. It'sa new day, another time..next time at least try to go instead of making assumptions.
