Last night, my boyfriend threatened to kill himself, andI freaked out and told him I was going to call a suicide hotline. We were fighting so his response was something like 'go ahead, my phones going to die anyways' so I called them after I talked to my mom about it, and they wanted to talk to her, and she said that we'd drive to his apartment, and talk to his parents, and him. When we go there, his dad's truck wasn't there, so we knocked anyway, because we didn't know if he was there alone or if his mom was there, so no one answered and me and my mom were really worried, so we wound up calling the cops, and long story short, they busted down the door, no one was there, we found out his mom's number, and called her, and they came home (they were at the grandparents), and the police took my boyfriend away to a psychiatric center. I haven't been holding up very well, he's coming home Tuesday, but I don't know when I'll be able to see him or talk to him next. I am afraid he is going to be mad at me for what happened. His mom told me that on the way there, he told her "I was only joking, I didn't mean it, I just wanted to see if she cared" And that is the only reason I did this, because I care for him more than I do anyone or anything else. Do you think he will be mad at me? Also, our one year anniversary is the 29th of this month.

I doubt he'll be mad at you unless he deflects his (possible) parent's anger toward you. However, I was in a psychiatric hospital for similar reasons and those places really do suck. So you might want to make up for that when he gets out of there if you aren't too mad about him lying to you. Although it's not clear whether he was lying or simply covering up his feelings from his mother.

He may be mad at you. But explain that you care so much about him, you dont want to ever go without him and you needed to make sure he was okay, for the both of you. he will come around.

He's a very sensative boy, he talks to him mom alot. When I told him I might be moving, (which he knows I'm not now) he was ballign his eyes out and told him mom all about it. She said that he was crying pretty hard when he said that in the car. She told my mom and I that she wasn't mad at us, and was very grateful actually, because he has been acting rather depressed lately.

I'm not going to lie but you did go a tad bit overboard.

This is exactly what he said to me, "F*ck it. F*ck it all. Nobody f*cking cares. I am going to go kill myself, bye." Coming from someone who doesn't normally say stuff like that, I don't think I went overboard.

He's an attention whore. How old are you guys, 14? This is absurd. Tell that fucking pansy to man up. Life could be much , much worse than living in some un-enjoyable suburbia.

I think you showed you cared enough by having the cops bust the door so he didn't kill himself. Unless he's a total dick, he shouldn't be angry.

If my boyfriend got mad at me for trying to save his life, I wouldn't care.
