I had to read Life of Pi for summer reading, and I've been talking around to my friends, going "Hey, have you finished summer reading yet?"

Everybody missed the fucking point, and everybody is trying to argue that I'm wrong.

The premise of the book is that a boy named Pi Patel and his family are headed to Canada from India. In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the boat begins to sink. Pi is then thrown in a lifeboat with animals, an injured zebra, a hyena, an orangutan, and a bengal tiger .

Along the way, the animals begin to kill, dismember, and eat each other. The hyena kills the zebra and the orangutan, and the Bengal tiger in turn kills the hyena. Pi ends up being on the boat alone, his only company a Bengal tiger.

When Pi finally reaches land, he tells the police two stories. The one of the animals, and the one where he tells of how he was on a life boat with an injured sailor, a brute cook, his mother, and a bengal tiger.

The cook killed his mother, and the inured sailor in desperation for food. Pi killed the cook because he killed his mother.

Everyone I talked to about the story seems to think that the story is simply about Pi living on a boat with animals, and that the first story he tells is true.

However, it is obvious to me that there were no real animals on the boat. The animals were people, and Pi, who WAS symbolized as a Bengal tiger, and was a little boy, created a false reality because didn't want to face the reality of what he had done (he had killed a man), and the reality of what happened to the rest of the survivors.

Seriously. I don't get how people can just read something on the surface. And the best part about it, is that they will argue with me until they are out of breath about how the book is not complicated.

This is my last rant about it, because it would not be good for me to just go around and start fights, lol.

Just choose which you like best. Or if you like a different quote, lemme know.

1 "The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep." -Robert Frost

2 "Keep the gold and keep the silver, but give us wisdom." -Arabian proverb field

3 "There is no happiness where there is no wisdom." Sophocles

4 "You cannot control your circumstances, but you can always control your own thoughts." -Charles E. Popplestone

5 "The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself." -Henry Miller

6 "Our best friends and our worst enemies are our thoughts." -Dr. Frank Crane

When you're texting someone or talking online, and the conversation goes like this.

You: Hey!
Them: Hey...
You: What's up?
Them: nothing too much.....how about you?
You: Oh, I'm just doing (thisthisandthis)
Them: That's cool...are you excited for school?

Seriously, stop. I don't know what you mean by those "....". Maybe you intended no harm, maybe you did, but what I see when people do "....", it makes me think you don't want to talk to me. Or you have something to say but won't say it.

I have a lot of friends who have a habit of doing that, and honestly, it just kills the conversation for me.

It's the equivalent of literally trailing off your voice while talking to someone.

What are these for?

College essay, choose a quote and relate it to you or your life. The thing is, in some form I can relate to all of them. So I was just asking for opinions.
