I had to call an ambulance and police officer twice to pick up a friend who was threatening suicide. They brought her to the hospital, she admitted she had threatened suicide multiple times in the past and had considered it, also that she was depressed and cut and had an eating disorder etc. They let her go forty minutes later. Hospitals are really full as it is; unless they see that you have an immediate threat to your well being, they'll just tell you to see a therapist and give you some pamphlets. He/She just sounds worried/nervous which is normal.
