I've tried most Linux distros at one point or another over the years, my favorite being Gentoo, although it's a bit of a pain in the ass. I like lightweight but full-featured systems. What's your favorite distro? What should I try next/again? Don't say Ubuntu or any variation thereof. I know, its a n00b distro, but I never really use Linux outside of our labs, and we use SUSE, Ubuntu, and Fedora. I still use DSL for fixing other people's shit. One of my favorites, even if it is a bit limited. And ZenWalk runs on my old laptop right now. Well, there's two people saying Fedora. I'll give it a go. And yeah, nearly every Linux box I've seen runs Ubuntu. I'm not currently running it on my computers, but that's just because I've been moving around a lot and it's a harder to use Distro, but it's very much a customizable one. It doesn't require excessive compilation like Gentoo, and the Package Manager Pacman is pretty damn handy. Fedora (looks great, easy to use, best all around, professional development team, etc., etc.) 2. OpenSUSE (many of what Fedora has but it is slow and uses a different package manager, I think) 3. Ubuntu (slowest and, I find, hardest to use, but it has the most support online and is compatible with the most hardware) 4. gOS (lightewight, but not very functional) I don't really install anything besides these.
