A vicious looking dog as tall as my chest ran at me in my drive (on a lead) and growled/barked at me. The only reason it didn't get very close was because the guy holding the other end of the lead was pulled to the floor and kept hold. I told my mum that I got ready to take a swing at it and, if I did hit its nose and put it off, I would have tried to kick it in the head to death if it looked like it was still going to try and bite my arm off. She was shocked. I think I'm in the right. If the guy can't control his dog and it threatened me and still tried to go for me had I successfully struck it (unlikely), I think I'm entitled to defend myself by knocking it out or killing it. It would be killed later anyway if it did attack me. Would you defend yourself to that degree against an attacking dog?

You can kill it if it's self defence... it's an animal... not that that should make a difference but in our culture it DOES.

YES YOU HAVE 100% right to defend yourself against anyone that cannot control their dog! There are enough cases of children being maimed or killed by people that can't control their dogs! You go Girl!

Would I kill it? No. Would I defend myself? Yes.

The best thing to do is put your arm directly in its mouth. Reverse psychology is eerily effective on big vicious dogs.

The original post is a lot more interesting than I thought it would be due to the title. You gotta fix that.
