sedative addiction in boyfriend Means sleeping pills... Some people need to learn the different drugs. I would say get all of his non drug friends and parents and people you know. Maybe intervention or rehab him.

Get out of there. You're young and you shouldn't be responsible for saving anyone at this age. That's what parents and long-term friends are for.

You keep asking, so obviously you want to dump him. It would be naive to assume he "will" change, he needs help though. If you don't want to help him, then leave him.

if you like him stay with him, if not then don't

What exactly is he addicted to? Talk to him about it. If he indicates that he wants to get off of them, then you should give him all the support he needs. If its something like benzos, look into Kava Kava. It is a natural herbal infusion that may help him ease off the pills. Kava has similar effects to benzos, with much less of an addictive nature, and much more mild. I believe this herb could be useful to alcoholics or benzo addicts. Most addicts want to quit. So saying "screw him! he'll never change!" is kindof an asshole thing to say. Plus, I believe most addictions are symptoms of an overlooked psychological issue that would be better treated with therapy.

Addicted to what? Benzos? The person above me has a good idea. Kava is similar to benzos (I am prescribed benzos [Klonopin]) and have taken Kava. They are very similar. My friends, who I have given Klonopin to and have tried Kava agree as well. But Kava is much milder and less physically addictive. I get withdrawal if I don't take K-Pin for more than 2 days.

Have serious discussion with him about it and if he is unwilling to help himself, there is little you can do.

I don't know what the consequences of his sedative dependency are for you're relationship so I can't save dump him or stay with him. It's up to you whether a person having this addiction is a deal-breaker or not. I mean if it's as simple as he has to take a sleeping pill every night or he can't sleep then I can't see how that could affect the relationship negatively but if he's taking like 30 Xanax a day or something I can see how that could be undesirable.
