I've looked over a couple of recent additions to the SL team, and damn! They really are just letting ANYONE become one.

I haven't really noticed any new additions. Pretty Thin is the newest one I remember.

There seem to be so many SLs, and they have new ones really quickly. =0

I've kind of noticed that, but hey... who are we to judge what the moderator who promoted them saw in them? Although, I do not agree with allowing a member who's been here for 3 days be an addition to our team.

In general, we have a great team though. I'm not going to call out specific members regarding my perceptions of them and/or their abilities because that's not the right thing to do. Definitely not in a public forum. Why? Because I would want people who question my abilities to contact me in private.

If they are supportive, then I don't mind. It's just a member who has only been here for 3 days really doesn't show commitment to the LiveWire community...

eHelp has been going slow, and we always need more support leaders. I think that it's kind of cool how really new members are becoming support leaders. I mean, I became a support leader when I was a soothsayer I think. I should have became one sooner.

I was just approved as a SL again, so I hope you're not talking about me? Actually now that you bring it up, I was looking through some people's applications just now and some of them go against the reasons why I was rejected before...posts not spread out over enough time, edited way too long afterwards etc etc.

There are some pretty new members who became SLs. I'm not complaining, it just feels a little weird.

I haven't really noticed. I'm sure they can't be *that* bad if they were approved. The mod who approved them must have saw some potential. Plus, I'm not complaining since I have to start homework for my AP classes, and I've been having problems at home. :/

If your talking about me (Which I do not doubt), I have pulled my weight around here as much as anyone else. Sure I am silly in the forums in the Random Board, but I have covered my share of eHelps so far and other forums such as the serious board and Support Sections. I filled out the application (2 pages), provided 10 quality links and references, so I got the position the same way anyone else does. I have been here almost a week now since I got it and I don't plan to leave. If you got a problem with me, my advice or the way I handle myself, feel more then free to come out and say it or PM me. Im'a big boy, you won't make me cry. Just keep in mind, that I didn't beg/plead to get it, hell I didn't think I would because of the time commitment you need before you join. So calm down folks before it turns into a shit fit. Its Support Leadership for god sakes, not admin, or mod. I'd expect you all to be a bit happy that there is another member to help out. We help others, key words. I'd quote the message I got when I was accepted, telling me why I was accepted and how he (The mod who accepted me) may take shit over it, but somehow its gone out of my inbox.

If a new member got support leader they must have some pretty good replies and show good initiative. Personally, I think people should have a certain days active to apply for a Support Leader, just because it shows commitment. I mean lets face it, some of the members here stay on for a month then get bored and leave and you would of never of guessed they would leave either. How do we know these leaders wont do the same as they are only new?

I dont understand how in 3 days a person can get 10 reply's and spread them out to show that he is always cmmited rather then just for those 3 days.

No the point of commitment is that you spread out into a few days the helpful replies you apply with, that way it shows that you are going to be supportive through out rather then be supportive for a solid week or two and then get bored and your help with deteriorate with interest.

In all honesty, I do not see this either. The fact is, he is a support leader now and there really isn't much that we can do about it. What's done, is done. There must have been a reason as to why he was promoted, other than commitment. His responses must have been over the top good. We can't change the past. He was promoted for a reason, and for that, I can't judge the decision that was made.

I'm new as well. To be fair it was a pretty difficult process. The SL apps are definitely scrutinized far more than I ever expected so I don't think it's fair to say that someone didn't earn it. But that's good that it is tough though because I'd much rather have people that help out around the forum than use it to delete topics and basically just sit on their SL status. I don't plan on deleting things unless it's something really bad and people require my assistance removing it. I just read the SL guide, it was an interesting read. Perhaps a better alternative to criticizing people's promotions maybe to you know.. help? If you have all this energy, why not make them positive? Congrats to Catlin as well. I'm sure they earned it and just ahead of the curve than most.

Me and the mod who promoted me are who this thread is mainly about Like I said, your all making this into a bigger thing then it is. I was a rare promotion and not many get promoted after 3 days like I was, let alone do many people apply after 3 days. I took the risk and was rewarded for it. Im not leaving after a month so I don't see the big deal in this. Is anyone un-happy with my eHelp replies and Support Replies? If not I see no problems, Its not like Wolf or other mods will start making this a routine thing, I doubt it will happen again for a VERY long time.

The mod who promoted you forgot about an established rule. It really had nothing to do with how awesome you are or anything, before you get too far up on your horse.
-- Posted by Catlin at 4:56 pm on June 26, 2009
Actually, if you want to move into that subject Greatescape, the mod quoted that established rule twice in two different PMs.
