How come when you use Final Cut Express on my Mac you have to render every single time I move a clip, cut it, apply a transition, etc.

Rendering it takes for ever.

Why is that FCE, which is more advanced--has to render when iMovie doesn't have to?

Is it because I have a setting in FCE wrong? I just can't believe that a simple program like iMovie (Even Pinnacle Studio doesn't render) doesn't have to render stuff when editing, only when you export your final project.

Am I doing something wrong? If not, how do people edit video like thaT?

You might have a setting issue.
Whenever I'm in FCP it doesn't require it, nor does iMovie like you said, not even Windows Movie Maker.

Do you know where I could go to fix it?

Check to see if your timeline settings are the same as the video.
FCE -> Easy Setup

I just looked it up, I don't actually know if it helps.
