Do you have to pay, in order to play online?

Nope, but the community died like 2-3 years ago for that game.

I know a lot of people who still play it.

That game is horrible! I quit WoW and wanted to try another game. Worst investment ever, I didn't that far into the game, but when I compared it to WoW it was horrible. However, I heard the pvp is good. I am a pve'er. Anyway I didn't pay to play online when I had it, I tthink that's suppose to be guild war's thing, was it wasn't pay to play you just have to buy the game.

You pay for the game which is something around $39.99 (I think), but there is no online subscription. I'm on a trial version myself. After originally being a WoW player, I made a lot of comparisons between WoW and GW. In Guild Wars, I'm getting fairly irritated at having to log out and ending up in the nearest city after I traveled 15 minutes or so down the road.
