I was sitting around my friends house the other night because they were about to shoot off some fireworks and BBQ, and someone had a portable radio out. They've been playing, as you all know, patriotic songs ALL week. I'd heard the same song about 4 times so far, so I commented that it was getting a bit old. My friends mother turned to me and said offhandedly, "I'm surprised at you, Lal. You above all people should be appreciative to live in such a great country." I was floored.

I don't think hating 'patriotic' songs makes you unpatriotic. I fucking hate Jingle Bells and I love Christmas.

I wasn't born here, but I spent the majority of my life here.

Actually speaking your mind even if others don't like it is one of the most patriotic things to do.

I strongly dislike people who are too obsessed with being patriotic.
