I just turned sixteen and I think that I should be able to date. I need to break the news to my parents, so how do I get their approval? my dad is really really protective of me. is 16 too young. I mean people can drive at 16, so why can't I start dating? I think that 16 is a very reasonable age.

... whatt he hell
date whenever YOU feel ready, age doesn't define your maturity and readiness

I started dating when I was 12. I think 16 is way more than acceptable.

Age isn't what matters here...

Why do you guys over there HAVE to tell your parents YOU want to date?

Hell, if I want to date, I just go ahead and dont tell them.

I asked my dad if I could date when I was 14...and he said wait til I'm 16. 16 came and we never talked about it, because I wasn't in a position to date anyway.

I think 16 is definetly old enough. Here in Aus you're then legally old enough to have sex.

I've been mature enough for a while. guys ask me out all the time but I can't because my parents wanted me to be older. I'm emotionally and intellectually mature for my age and very responsible. I just don't understand. I don't care about the age thing, it's them.

Wait until you have someone to date before talking to your parents about it. Then you can introduce the person to your parents as a friend, and if they're impressed you can tell them.

16 is a great age to start dating.

One of my early girl friends father was the same way and at 16 wouldn't let her date. We talked about it and both of us agreed that we wanted to have sex with each other. So after that we didn't really date but we had a lot of sex every time we had the opportunity..
