How can you forget Chicago? It depends on how far away you want to go, really. There are plenty of fun, albeit off-the-mark things to do in Michigan. I quite like the Upper Peninsula. There's camping, boating, beautiful beaches. Nice weather in the summer. If you like nature stuff, it's pretty fun. If you have a passport, go to Ontario. Ottawa, Toronto, Windsor.
