What if someone wrote a new book and said god told me to write it. How many people would believe it?

If someone told you God spoke to them and told them to build a huge monument, would you believe them? Why are people like this nowadays looked at as crazy but if it happened a long time ago and you were hearing about it now you would probably believe it.

why is this? If I go to a hardcore religious person who quotes the bible and all that and tell him God told me to write something he would probably call the police on me. Strange, If its old they were told to write it by god. If it happens now they were probably on drugs or insane.

The world's just fucked up like that.

It's because "God no longer talks to us directly, but only through the bible and others".

I've thought about that too..

Not in today's world. I think that people would definitely buy it, but not believe it.

God told me to write this post.

How many people would believe me?

Equivalent to the book.

All you have to do, is aim it towards gullible people who believe in it.

That's just the way it is.

God is for real

This is exactly why I doubt it ever happened thousands of years ago in the first place. People would have thought they were crazy back then too.

Better off finding your own way in life, listen to your heart and your conscience and you won't go wrong.

How convenient

Did he tell them that?

Quoted directly from a holy man.

Back then, there was less religious foundation so people easily absorbed what they were told.  They wanted to believe that God sent someone to save them from the bad.  Since one thing became such a hype, there was less reason for people to change their views.  So if someone were to now say they talked to God, there would be less reason to believe them.  However, there are other ways to get followers.  People like Charles Manson got his cult through methods of terror.  He claimed he was the devil.
