My older sister (she's 18) has an eating disorder, she's bulimic. I'm so worried about her, I don't know what to say and do and think. I don't know how to support her, how to help her. I don't talk to her about it, but, I feel like I should. I'm so confused. I miss the days when my sister was healthy and happy, back when she was a really great sister to have. She's not that sister anymore and I'm worried. Help??

Let her come to you. Thats the only way i got resolved because, i was finally comfortable talking to some one about me. Yes it is scary but constantly bugging her about helping her will not help at all.

You can try talking to her, but she might resist your help at first. It wouldn't hurt to bring it up with her though, you're obviously very concerned about her.

You need to talk to her

You really need to talk to her about her problems. She will probably not want to talk to you but let her know everything will be okay and always be there for her when she needs your support. I would encourage you greatly to get her some professional help. Try seeing a councilor first, you can offer to go with her if that would make her feel more comfortable. Best of luck.

thanks for everybody's help & suggestions. my parents have tried to get her to go and see a doctor about it, but she won't budge. they tried to get her to see a counsellor too but she refuses. i'm going to talk to her, and i'm going to keep trying to get her to open up. maybe that will help. i'm just afraid that if i try and talk to her, she'll get angry and annoyed and stop speaking to me. my sister is like that, she holds grudges :| thanks for everybody's help again.

hey i have the same problem, just i am not one hundred percent sure if my sister actually has one. She like is sooo skinny and pale and she doesn't always eat that much but then when she eats its always bad food and like i always find packets of lollies in her room, so i am not completely sure. I guess tehy best thing that you could do be to talk to her about, let her know that whenever she needs advice or help that you are here for her and keep on complimenting her on how nice she looks and how pretty she is. If you have not talked to her about this before she may be a bit stubborn at first and might not open up to you right away, don't be completely persistant but don't give up on the spot, remember to not get aggrivated with her and if she does not see a doctor encourage her to see one. If your talking about it and you can tell she is getting to stressed and worked up about it, leave it and bring the subject up annother time. She will eventually open up to you. I guess she will also need to feel trust that you wont tell everyone what she says.
