I am not saying that he isn't real. There's one thing I don't understand though. If he punishes those who don't have faith in him or believe he is real then why couldn't he just automatically make people have faith in him? I mean he never showed himself to us, he left written records which leave people puzzled to if he exists? I am trying to make this sound the least rude as possible because if he is real I don't want him to be angry at me for questioning him. My point is. Telling people that God punishes those that done beileve in him makes people beileve in him. More so in ancient times.

I get the impression that you are very interested in covering all your bases. You don't want to say on 2012 one way or the other just in case. You don't want to commit one way or the other on God just in case. At some point in your life, you're going to have to take a stand on something or your life will come to an end empty and meaningless.

I know but if he is God and created us. Why not just make us automatically have faith in him? I mean if he created us with human nature of course people are going to be skeptical of things they don't see. If you give someone the choice to have faith or not have faith, then don't make good evidence of yourself, it would seen kind of unfair to place judgment on the skeptical wouldn't it?

With things like religion you never know for sure. I have faith in a higher being that much I will say.

What does it mean to "have faith" in a undefined, unrevealed higher being?

I don't know. We have to come from somewhere. It's possible that someone created us. I am leaning more towards the higher being philosophy. You can't expect me to have a strong stance on only one thing. With things like religion, philosophy and higher forces, I don't like saying what's wrong and what's right if I don't know for sure. I wouldn't say " faith" I guess. I am saying for people who believe in different Gods. With all these different religions brought to us, why should the people who don't follow Christianity or whatever be persecuted? I'm sure God would be more understanding of the scenario.

This, I think, is the first thing you have been "sure" of so far. On what grounds do you have this assurance?
-- Posted by KotaLautner at 8:39 am on July 9, 2009
God doesn't want to make people do anything they don't want to do. He just wishes that people would believe in Him and do good. This is just from my perspective. I believe that God wants us to make our own choices and won't judge us for the ones we do make or have made. He is always there to welcome us back into His heart and forgive us for the sins we have committed.

Well if God is truly good and truly perfect then I don't think he would make the mistake of persecuting people. Unless he is not an understanding God. I mean seriously. He has to understand that this world has many different religions brought to us telling us to have faith. He knows we are only human if he made us that way. With all these different beliefs, if we happen to follow the "wrong" religion I don't think it would be fair to judge mere humans from making such a wide based decision. Especially since humans come from different places and formed different beliefs and from the story I believe the whole story with Moses happened in one part of the world. I just don't think it would be fair to punish people in such a scenario. And don't judge me for not having strict religious views.

I didn't say they could. If you are referring to people who murder and commit crime then that's a different scenario. I don't think people with good intentions should be punished if they make a mistake.

Okay then, god punishes people because he gave everybody the choice...when people don't wanna try to look up the truth, that's totally their fault.

That's stupid. You can't look up what you call "The truth" and be 100 percent sure it's the truth. Like I said there are many different religions. We are human. If he gave us a choice it's sure a big one. With all the religions in the world how do we know which belief is right and which one isn't? How do we know if he even punishes us for not following everything the bible says? How is it that it's my fault and I need to be punished for following the "wrong" religion. I would gladly follow him if I were 100 percent sure his way was the right way but since we have never even seen him. Sure it's been written but a lot of things of other religions have been written too. Am I suppose to be expected to choose the right religion with all these scenario's and if I don't I deserved to be punished?

A gift that is demanded is no gift at all. We all must find out for our selves
