As long as you've got a working username and password, you should be able to just pay for a month of game time and go. The Authenticator is for Blizzard games.  Its a little electronic key chain thing that generates 6 random numbers.  You have to buy it special and then put it on your account.  My bf got it for me but I lost it :/ It's for extra security.
