So, last year, my dad was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer.  I was seriously depressed and was having a lot of emotional problems.  He went through all the treatments and surgeries, and was finally done a few months ago, but then he found out that it came back as a stage 4 in his liver.  For some reason, I'm not terribly upset.  Maybe it's because I dealt with the burden already, and I'm all burden-ed out, or maybe I've just learned to deal with my emotions better, but everyone expects me to be a wreck because he could easily die, and I'm just not.

Is something wrong with me?

No, you just deal with stress/bad situations better than most.

I think that would be called "stress burn-out". I've been through it too.

You're not weird. Sometimes, Our hearts are miraculously capacious. I feel kind of heartless too sometimes, My mother died of the same thing your Dad has right now, I was very upset about it when she had it, but now that she is gone I feel a sense of relief almost, and peace. It feels very odd to admit, but I do. I mostly feel kind of empty and numb though, I wish I could feel a damn thing.

nothing is wrong with you you just already dealt with this. you shouldn't feel bad, because you already felt bad about this and knew what may happen, you became immune to the pain and sort of numbed it.

nothing is wrong with you just you need to be thankful for what you have.  Be sure to let your father know that you love him.  He will understand everything.  He may also feel bad for making you feel so depressed.  you have sorrow for your father but u cannot seek it if you have others persueding you to do so.  The feelings need to come by themselves.

no you're not, its normal, people learn to accept things as the come round for the second time alot more quickly

Reconciliation- you have come to terms with the inevitable which is actually a relief to the mind.
All terminal cancer victims go through this- knowing that they put up a good fight- they did all they could do- and they have nothing to regret.

Get the fuck out. You have no idea whether or not their father is going to die, and telling someone that is cruel. Once you have something bad happen to you (if you haven't already, I don't know of your history..) maybe you will learn some compassion. Idiot.
You truly live up to your name. Kudos

Your original comment was unnecessary and uncalled for. And in a topic like this, detestable.
