I've forgiven myself since then, as I know that my friend will have surely forgiven me as well from where he sits in said afterlife. But given the chance, I'd do it over again except this time I'd go to his funeral. I would rather suffer through a lifetime of knowing that he's dead and gone, than to know that I wasnt there, looking at him, mourning him yet celebrating him that one last time, and realize that that was literally the last time I was going to see him. Yes, if it will make you happy, dont go.
