I mean burning by yourself forever with unfathomable pain? like legit FOREVER. that scares me. i dont know why people wouldnt just have a relationship with Christ. It would just make your life better anyways.

What if you go to hell for not believing in another god?

This argument is meaningless to someone who doesn't believe in the Bible. If I told you that I was absolutely sure that the god Eremolet would punish you forever if you didn't give me $1000 by tomorrow, would you do it "just in case"? No, because you'd feel like you were being manipulated. (though feel free to prove me wrong)

im pretty sure you wont be lying to yourself. people have died for a few minutes and then have been brought back to life medically and have told stories about the worst things they have ever seen or felt, which presumably is hell. so its not like its not real.
-- Posted by Alique at 8:20 pm on July 10, 2009
Fearing hell means you have, to some degree, a bit of belief in it. But if you don't believe in something, you're probably not going to be scared of it.
-- Posted by SomeRandomKid at 8:21 pm on July 10, 2009
hell does not exist. i believe that when you die. there's nothing.

how do you know they weren't having an intense dream or that some of them aren't making it up? visits to the afterlife during NDE's are not proof that hell, or heaven, exist. and neither make any sense to me, and never have, and most likely, they never will, so it would be a very uncomfortable position to put myself into.

yeah but that is just dumb. the Bible has been around for thousands of year, the prophecies within it are coming true, and there really was a man named Jesus who died on a cross, and how else do you explain the world..evolution doesnt cut it for me. and faith has changed many people's lives.

If Hell existed, it would be a pretty scary place. But since my morals don't allow me to believe in such a fate for most of the world's population, I have no fear.

everyone in the world has free will to believe. its not the fate of the world. they make their own decisions.

Roman mythology has been around longer.

No, they're not.
and there really was a man named Jesus who died on a cross,
Lots of good people were crucified in ancient times for their religious beliefs.

This is because you don't understand evolution, at least not in detail.
and faith has changed many people's lives.
And yet there's no compelling evidence to show that religions featuring "hell" change peoples lives in a better way than other systems of belief that don't feature hell.

God & Jesus (who are the same person) have existed since the beginning of time. Adam & Eve? Moses? Other ones have died out but this one has still stayed around.

No, it doesn't scare me. Even if I believed in God, I would not believe in any God who thought burning people forever just because they found his existence unlikely was anything but evil. There is no way you can claim a benevolent God would do something like that.

and, nobody had any idea of what hell looked like before a poet decided to explain it in a story. it is nowhere in the bible that people who 'go to hell' are burned for eternity and suffer immense amounts of pain and torture based on the sins they committed in life. the idea of what hell contains is made up, in the mind of authors who wrote about it first, and encouraged the idea through an extremely good story that is quite entertaining. but before that, pictures of 'satan' were much different. he was not depicted as someone who reigned over a fiery inferno, like you think.

hell was written about in the God inspired Bible. not a poet. and the Bible is the Word of God and truth.

That a real person's life would be embellished to make them more legendary? This happens all of the time with historical figures.
a big bang and the whole world happened? or we come from monkeys? rightttt
Get back to me when you can explain either of these things in scientific terms. There's no point in arguing about evolution with someone who doesn't know why evolution works.

find me the passage in the bible that describes hell as a fiery inferno then.

There's a lot of people who view not existing at all as a form of heaven. Edit I don't mean people suffering horribly I mean whole religions based on the idea, for example Buddhism.
