Carbon dating

Pretty sure its as old as the hills, dont question it. What you should be questioning is how much longer its gonna be around

Already done. He says I'm the ignorant one, and he added that I'm going to Hell.

Theoretically its possible the universe came into existence yesterday but god put everything into a state exactly the same as what would exist if the universe was much older thus creating the appearance that its much older then what it really is.

Occam's razor says its most likely bullshit but theoretically its possible.

Scientists just guess?! Then why do we see a converging line of evidence from many independently discovered dating methods?

Carbon dating

Carbon dating is not used to date the earth, since it (1) it can only date organic material and (2) is not used to date objects older than around 50 000 years.

http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-age-of-earth.html

Try Rubidium-Strontium, Argon-Potassium, Samarium-neodymium, Uranium-Lead dating and many more. Not that all of these converge on the exact same result. If all of these where wrong, the probability of them all converging on a single result is so astronomically small that it is for all intents and purposes impossible.

Bull its only 6000 years old god just made it seem older with the radioactive dating to test people's faith in him.

/end devil's advocate ie pretending I'm my dad.

So you believe in an evil god then? But god is by definition all-good, so your idea self-destructs.

-- Posted by Dexter Ward at 9:36 pm on July 11, 2009

God isn't evil he just wants to be sure people have true faith in him, if he made it obvious the world was 6000 years old then people would almost always believe in him since it'd mean bible would be right, especially if written in a time where such technology didn't exist and that'd take away free will.

-- Posted by airemaye at 11:09 pm on July 11, 2009

Few billion years.

It's amazing.

So you think deception is morally good? Then why not make deceptive arguments now?
