I am using Bullguard anti-virus with the firewall disabled, my knowledgable brother told me my wireless router was better than any firewall. My computer is general virus and spyware free apart from the occasional trojan which Bullguard usually picks up immediately. But everytime i scan my computer i have a virus in Windows System restore, i follow the instructions and clear the old restore points but next time i scan it is without fail virused. Is there not anything i can do to protect it? i like having system restore on in case of an emergency but these viruses cant be good. any suggestions, also i have microsoft anti-spyware, is it worth keeping?

id ask a computer technician they might be able to properly get rid of it for you

Try deactivating system restore and starting up in safe mode and do a full virus scan.

Ok, well, first things first, turn on your software firewall. I expect your brother is talking about Network address translation (or maybe SPI). Anyway, to the matter in hand. I expect you will find that there is actually no virus, if I remember correctly some anti-virus progs incorrectly identify a virus with system restore.

you cant run a scan in safe mode, the antivirus will be dissabled

ok, i am reluctantly re-activating the firewall, despite me hating the thing. Does anyone with Bullguard know how to tune it down a little, it blocks just about everything.

anything you suggest? my computer is only a few weeks old and bullguard was supposedly the best around according to the people that built it.

nah, bullguard is bullshit.. =D I suggest you try KasperSky. I recommend this as the #1 choice. http://www.download.com/Kaspersky-Anti-Virus-Personal-Pro/3640-2239-10333027.html
