Holy Crap.....As a former ROTC cadet, I can surely tell you alot.  Right now it really depends on what branch you head  to.  I did some time in the Air Force ROTC program and let me tell you at first you might enjoy it, but you'll later see why soo many people quit.  Right now the Air Force is drastically downsizing.  I mean a lot!!!!  So if you want to get in, you better show them that you're the best.  Also, they take your major into MAJOR consideration.  You need to be something technical to not be at a disadvantage.

One of the major problems I found witht the program was the large commitment.  As a freshman, its pretty easy going.  You pretty much have no duty except learn about the program.  As a sophmore, you need work your butt off to earn an Enrollment Allocation.  You need to show the CADRE, you're the man for the job.  You do this with your GPA, Phyiscal Training Scores, etc.  Let me tell you....the standards for the Air Force has been raised because there are just too cadets and not enough Officer slots.

You do need to undersand that you'll have to schedule your classes around the ROTC program.  You are required to Phyiscal Train a few times a week.  Attend a required course and attend a Leadership course.

If you're thinking about joining the Army, then you're in luck.  There is a hugh Lieutenant shortage because the main fighting force in the Middle East currently is the Army.  If you do complete the program, there is a HIGH chance that you will be sent into the infantry.

If you have any questions, send me a message...I have a lot more information
