Halo-Halo is a traditional Filipino treat consisting of a blend of fruits, sweet preserves, evaporated milk, and shaved ice (some varieties add a lot of other ingredients). It is frequently topped with a scoop of ice cream. The name literally means "Mix-Mix". The purple top is ube (purple yam)-flavored ice cream. It's available in some areas in the US: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/18/us/18bcintel.html More beautiful pictures: http://philippinesfoodrecipes.blogspot.com/2011/04/halo-halo-recipe-with-pictures.html
