So basically my roommate finally hit my last nerve. For quite a while he's been coming into our room at 6AM drunk out of his wits (even during finals) turning on the lights, waking me up. It hasn't been fun. He likes to give away my shit... Spreads rumors.

We started the year as friends (we had known each other in high school) But it quickly changed when he decided to over-indulge in alcohol too frequently. Don't get me wrong, party all you want... the weekends is a good time... but he's drunk EVERY-FUCK-NIGHT.

Anywho, I finally decied to move. Someone dropped out down the hall, so I'm going to move into that room. The issue being I havn't told my current roommate and don't know how. There are things in the room that he uses too but are mine, that I will have to take with me (Tv, Microwave...)...

So to sum things up. I'm moving out of my current room due to roomie issues... and i don't know how to tell my current roommate. Any advice?

well, you should be honest.  no one likes a person that springs vital information at the last minute.  give at least two weeks notice.  that way, he can have time to get his own tv, microwave, etc.

that way, you'll stay the better man in the end.

Eh, a little late for that.

Basically the decision was made on my part friday. I went home for the weekend, and am now going back tomorrow... I've gotta move in within the week or the university puts someone else in the room.

I wasn't planning on moving out, I figured I could deal with everything. Then my roommate bought my suitemates alcohol (He has a fake id) and they kept me up until 3 AM playing loud music and screaming rather profusely...

I dunno... I just figure he'll be better off being able to party whenever he wants without me around trying to actually get shit done... and ill be happier at the quiet end of the hall, and then I can go out on the weekends... when I have time to play.

Just tell him the truth. Hopefully he'll understand. I had to move out of my dormroom because my roommate kept complaining about my daughter. She was using all of my things too. Three days before I moved into the married dorms i told her i was moving into another dormhall. She got all pissed off and bitchy with me. And i just ignored her

"Dude, it's not working out, I'm moving down the hall."

Most of the time, so I've noticed from my experience, if there is turmoil with one roommate so that he wants to move out, the other roommate is just as happy to see him go.

Yep, it's all done. No problems. I'm much happier.

Glad to hear that! So how'd you go about the situation? What worked for you?

I know exactly what you're talking about.  The people who I live with come home at 3 am every morning and are being stupid and loud untill 5. I've tried talking to them, asking them to be quiet...nothing works.  I only have 6 more months on the lease though, so I'm thankful for that.
