I know this probably seems silly to some of you who have always had the attention from the opposite sex, but I feel like my life has been a waste. All I want is to be wanted. I know a 27-year old virgin, who just got into his first relationship like 5 months ago. And they broke up, and he's still a virgin because she was a hardcore Christian. What you gotta do, is find a way to feel better and more confident. As long as you feel like your life is a "waste" as you say, you'll never be able to confidently talk to a girl and come across as a dateable person. I recommend that you work on feeling better as a goal. Go for a walk outside everyday. Listen to uplifting music. Get a massage. Get a pet, if you don't have one, or play with your pet. Don't even worry about this situation for now, focus all of your attention right now on feeling better inside, find a state of happiness first. Once you do that, you'll be able to naturally approach a girl.
