It seems some people have been coming into the programming forum and posting useless cruft like "I don't know" or "you do that", such posts are totally useless, and I am somewhat suspicious that people are making them to increase their post count

At any rate, useless replies like that are extraordinarily annoying, and people should stop posting useless replies to topics in here.

I agree. I honestly think that there's too many users that just say I don't know to get their post counts increased. Why don't they save the space for members who are actually here to and willing to help.

Moderators generally are wise to this and will delete all topics which do not contribute to the topics. You can help them by clicking report post to bring it to their attention!

These type of posts could be worse. The thing I hate the most is people bumping up their points in welcome forums (not on LW) but on other forums. posts like yer, welcome and i agree are usless. Thats why we have polls.

Any way as said above the moderators are careful enough that they will delete the posts. What would happen if you click the report post link from a post?

You are given a window with a box where you're supposed to type in why the post was reported and show examples. Then the report get's sent to the mods who decide the appropriate action.

Obviously your sticky didn't help. I posted a topic, I got one reply from Legend Killer, which I reported, because all he said was "no". I got no other replies.
