I mentioned before that I'm being forced to live with my parents this year. But there's a problem: my parents don't act like they love and accept me for who I am; they love and accept the straight-A student, conservative, uber-feminine daughter they wish they had. They don't want the less-than-perfect, socially rebellious, nonconformist, hippie tomboy that I've become over the last 19 years. I've been searching for weeks for a job so that I can begin earning my own money, buy a car, and eventually move out, but that will take time. I wish my parents could love and accept me for what I am, not for what they wish I was. I want them to realize that what I am is never going to change, and I want them to love what I am, not what I'm not.

You need to tell them exactly what you've told us. Explain to them that they can accept you for who you are, or lose you. That's their only choice.

Yeah I agree with Sweet N Spicy Gal, you must talk to them. You also gotta step up and show them you can be responsible, really try and get a job, really try and save money. Have faith in yourself. Start now!

I was in the same boat but once they see that your a mature adult type person besides all the other stuff, they will be proud and your going about it the right way, with the job hunting. Parents are people too, it helps to think of that fact!!!

You can not beg understanding. your parents want somebody else in you and you can not become that person now. Carry on. Your parents will realize their folly and love you again. Begging them to understand you will not work in my opinion.
