My roomate left the top bunk for me and it is way up high-my face is about two inches from the ceiling. And there is no railing. I haven't slept there yet but I am afraid that when I fall asleep at night I will roll off and fall eight feet to the floor-I could break something that way. What should I do? Put up a railing? How would I do that? I don't want to fall. (Edited by TigerV05 at 8:19 am on July 12, 2006)

HOW?

Hmm, well you will probably need railing but for now could you just tuck yourself in really tightly?

Make her swap.. or compromise. Take it in turns who has the top bunk. If she wont listen, sleep on the top but make sure you drink alot and pee the bed.. that way, it'll drip through onto her when she's asleep and teach her a lesson.

I tend to move around a lot in my sleep...

just put a pillow to the side of you (where you might fall, that way you won't roll in that direction.

HOW?
Well I looked on Ikea and found nothing, but maybe you can give it a try ( http://www.ikea.com ) and try looking for somewhere that can install one for you, unless you can do it yourself.

If you need something temporary, jam something in between the mattress and the frame sticking up, it should do for the meantime.

I have slept on top bucks a lot, though not as close as 2 inches. Perhaps your dormwarden can get something settled. If not, I doubt you would fall off, if you turned over in bed, you would crape the ceiling.

fall off on purpose then you can guilt trip her into giving you the other bun

try looking for some type of railing. They make them for little kids who just move up to big beds or at least they used to....anyways just find something that has a pole that you can slide between the mattresses that has railing attached.

Chances are you wont roll of.. even asleep your body isn't stupid. If you want to be extra careful, sleep with your arm danlging over the side or something similar so that your body knows exactly where the edge is. If you're drunk or othersie handicapped I wouldn't advise relying on this method though..

putting a pillow on the edge is a sound idea.. it will stop you from rolling over

Is the bunk against the wall? If so just sleep near the wall then you'll just try to turn into the wall, haha. I thought most bunks had something for a rail... If not then that doesn't seem safe to me. Or measure the bunk, go to a hardware store by a long piece of wood, then... Somehow rig it to the bunk so you have a rail... use duct tape or something... or get two clamps. I'm sure you'll figure this out. Good luck with the bunk...
