What the hell is this "Velveeta" cheese I keep hearing about? I am not accustomed to this cheese-related product...and I am not sure I wish to be. Can somebody explain, please?
-- Posted by tara beth at 7:28 pm on Feb. 7, 2004
Well its another type of cheese, obviously, but I'm not sure how to explain it. Its better then the other cheese out their in my opinion...

Velveeta is actully just soft yellow plastic that in no way resembles cheese but for some reason they still put that on the package. Liars.

I consider Velveeta cheese to be the type that comes in a block. It's often better to use when you cook rather than sliced or shredded cheese. It seems to me to have more moisture or something. *shrugs*

That is what it seemed like to me. Additionally, why anyone would name a "cheese" Velveeta is beyond me.

Velveeta is a processed yellow block posing as cheese. It's texture is supposed to resemble "velvet" thus the name. It has it's own behavior completely different from cheese, which I have observed at length. It likes to form a protective and impenetrable layer to protect it from the outside world (and forks). This layer form-age occurs more quickly in the presence of lunch ladies, who have forever tried to pass velveeta (and the extremely scary sub-velveeta products) off as cheese. It also clogs the arteries with a vengeance, so stay away. Beware the velveeta!

baked patatoe wedges what you need: patatoes paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, a[and other spices depended on ur tastes] margarine or butter what to do: boil water and place patatoes [still with their skin] in water once it's reached the boiling point.. cook on high until you are able to peel the patatoe with just ur fingers drain the patatoes and put them in cold water so that you are able to peel them without burning urself peel the patatoes [this should be easy because the peel should come right off without the need of a knife or vegetable peeler] slice the patatoes into wedges and place them on a greased baking dish.. season them with ur choice of seasoning [or the spices that i mentioned above] place small pieces of butter/margarine on the patatoes [not necesarrily on each piece.. maybe every third..] and bake in the oven at 400degreesF until they are golden brown [when they are half way done.. you may want to flip them and season the other side and add more margarine so that they don't stick to the dish] serve them with ur favourite dinner :) and enjoy

Fondue isn't cheese with small peppers and meat. Thats like...fake or something. And I've never heard of it being made with Velveeta either.

Well there are different types of fondue (Chocolate, Beef, Cheese, ect.) There is one with peppers and meat and stuff.

This cake turns out bright red and is really delicious. It's great for Christmas or Valentine's day, and the icing absolutely scruptious! Ingredients : 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix 1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix 4 eggs 1 ounce red food coloring 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1 cup water 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder 1 cup cold milk 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese 1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed Directions 1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 x 13 inch pan. 2) Mix together cake mix, 1 box pudding mix, eggs, oil, food coloring, water, vinegar, and cocoa. Pour into prepared pan. 3) Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool. 4) Beat together milk and cream cheese*. Mix in 1 box pudding mix. Fold in whipped topping. Spread on cooled cake. Refrigerate. *Note: Make sure that the cream cheese is super soft and lump free. This is VERY important, or your icing will be lumpy. Melt it for a few seconds at a time if you have to, and I suggest using and electric mixer.

Potato Pancakes Ingredients & Materials: - About 1 1/2 or 2 cups worth of mashed potatoes, freshly cooked or left over, preferrably flavored in some way - Sesame Seeds (I'm not a measurer, just get your sesame seeds out and follow the directions) - Chives, fresh or dried, diced very small - Parsley, dried - Sunflower or Vegetable oil, canola does not work, it does, but it tastes icky - Any old skillet, medium-large depending on how big you like your pancakes to be. ---- Directions to make: Ok...I am not doing this as I write nor am I copying this off some paper...I'm doing it off the top of my head so please reply and correct me if something appears wrong... K first, take a skillet, medium/large, teflon really comes in handy here. Add the vegetable/sunflower oil to the pan, just enough to cover the surface with a good amount. Turn your burner on your stove to high and wait a bit for the oil to heat up. To test if its hot, take a bit of your potatoes on a spatula (which you'll need later) and dip it into the oil. If it starts bubbling, its good to go. Pour out or spoon out some potatoes into the oil and turn the burner down so you have time to shape. Put more or less depending on how big you like them. Shape them into a circle or whatever you please. Repeat and flip until they are slightly crispy & browned. Remove onto a paper towel and drain the oil off. Turn off your burner. Sprinkle chives, parsley, and lots of sesame seeds on them and you're done. Eat up. Trust me it might sound sick but its really good. As the cook in this house (yes, the cook! my dad doesnt cook at all! I make him clean up), you can trust me. Tell me what you think. ;)

From what I heard, velveeta is not exactly "cheese" but chemical-laden "wannabe-cheese"

KICK-ASS FOOD Ingrediants: 1 onion 1/2 green pepper 10 oz can black beans sesame oil spoonful of chopped garlic some cumin some salt some pepper Heat the sesame oil in a wide, flat pan on medium heat. Chop the onions and pepper finely and cook them for ten minutes until they are soft and almost falling apart. Add the garlic and cook for two more minutes. Dump in the black beans and pulverize with a potato masher until everything is in a big brown paste. Pour some cumin, salt, and pepper in until it tastes good. Yeah, it looks like shit, but if all shit tasted like this, my head would be in the toilet 24/7. Enojy!
