I'm new to the fourms so I'm not sure how the help is lol but I figured I'd try. I'm 18 and I've never been pregnant but I have been on birth control for 8 years for irregular periods. Since I have been put on birth control my periods have been regular. Whenever I don't take my pills on time (which is usually very often because I don't always have them with me) I start my period usually a week early and it will last all the way up until the day I am supposed to be off. Well, last week I had some what I thought was bleeding but it was so light did no damage at all and it was brown. It lasted around 2 days and after that it went away and I haven't seen anymore and I haven't seen it anymore. I have never experienced this before. I was supposed to originally start my period today (when I always do) and I haven't had any signs of it at all. If anyone has any advice or has experienced this before any information would be grately appreciated. I'm not worried because if I am pregnant my grandparents (who are very very very old fashioned) told me they would kill the guy lol and I think my granddaddy might be serious because he is VERY VERY strict when it comes to me because he loves me but it take two to tango so I'm scared. But thank you in advance!!! :)

Go to a store and buy a pregnancy test.

You should call a sexual health centre near you as soon as you can if you want to know so you can do something about it. (take the morning after pill/plan B) Its confidential(sp?) Also, you can just take it to be on the safe side, if your not pregnant it wont do anything to you.

Take a pregnancy test. I know you've heard that before and you were probably looking for better, more well thought out advice, but that's really the only thing that's going to put your mind at ease. If you want something that will be almost 100% accurate, go to your doctor and get a blood test done. Urine tests are fairly accurate, but if you are not very far along you can sometimes get a false negative.

To be truthful, I wasn't asking if I wasn't pregnant.. lol Sorry if it was confusing I was basically wondering if anyone has experienced something like this that might be something different from just pregnancy...

It could be any number of things, but only a doctor can tell you for sure. Most people who are on birth control, for as long as you have been, tend to have the same period every month with no change. This isn't everyone though. If this is the first time you have had a significant change, it's probably best that you see your doctor just to make sure everything is fine. From what you've said, I truly don't think you are pregnant, but I'm also not a doctor, nor do I have your pregnancy test sitting in front of me.

I just wanted to pop in and say good luck hun. If you're taking your birth control sporadically, it's going to mess up your cycle. The pills work by regulating your hormones and they really are meant and have to be taken very rigidly. They aren't effective otherwise and they just serve to cause all kinds of hormonal imbalances. If you are pregnant, don't worry too much about your grandparents. Everyone's parents say that as a ditch attempt to scare their kids/grandkids in to behaving certain ways. Yet, when pregnancies have happened everyone has been angry, hurt, but gotten over it and loved the child and accepted the boy as part of the family. I'm sure you'll work it out.

I've had quite a few preggo scares from irregular periods, it's not fun. but like other's have said the best advice if to take an over the counter pregnancy test...maybe take two to be extra cautious.

For the most accurate answer you should take a pregnancy test or take a trip to your doctor. If you have been really stressed out lately that could also cause a late period. Your birth control (since you dont take it regularly all the time) could also have an effect on your period. It could be a number of things but as I said, take a test to help yourself out. Hope this helps!
