Hi, everyone! I just wanted to let out a concern of mine that really got me frustrated today. I LOVE being a support leader because I want to help other people with their problems and give them the strength they need to get their life on the right track. What bothers me is some of the responses that I'm seeing on e-help. I feel that some of these responses are short and don't really help the member that is asking for help. "I don't know what to say" is not what the person seeking help wants to hear...I think it's best that if someone can't really give advice to the member then they shouldn't make a posting at all...why should they receive their 2 points if what they are advising won't benefit the member? What TRULY got me mad was a posting that I saw today from a 12 year old girl saying that her father is abusing her. If you take a look at that posting and read the replies from the Support Leaders you will see that they wrote merely TWO sentences on such a sensitive issue. The girl ALREADY knows that she needs to contact authorities what she needs is further guidance, love, attention, support during this time. She needs to know that what her father is doing isn’t right, that she WILL win if she presses charges, and what her options are once she contacts the authorities. The members are turning to E-Help because they need answers beyond the obvious and I just feel that some support leaders aren't doing the best they can and just want to have the title and gain extra points. I understand that at times it is difficult for us to reply to and I even have to stare at the screen for a while trying to think of what to say. What I ask is that no one takes this posting offensively. I just want to help improve the affect that we have on the members that come to us for guidance. I don't want to have a debate on how I'm no one to judge the advice of others because this isn't what I'm trying to do....but I think that we need to evaluate what our SL are responding to members in need.
