1. TO PROVIDE A PLACE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR MEMBERS OF LIVEWIRE WHO ARE DISABLED TO MEET OTHER MEMBERS WHO ARE ALSO DISABLED.

2. TO PROVIDE AN ONLINE SOURCE FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE LIVEWIRE COMMUNITY REGARDING INFORMATION AND RESOURCES FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES

3. TO HELP OTHERS WHO MAY KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO HAS A DISABILITY

Yay new forum!

A nice idea I might add.

-- Posted by OverTheAir at 11:27 pm on Dec. 28, 2006

Uhh..cool idea I guess

-- Posted by xoelizabeth417 at 11:28 pm on Dec. 28, 2006

aw, this is a nice idea

-- Posted by maceyface at 11:31 pm on Dec. 28, 2006

This forum makes me wish I had a disability... does being way too sexy count?

-- Posted by Rastafarian at 11:34 pm on Dec. 28, 2006

Its a nice idea.

However... I would think this forum will have a very limited base of people that would become frequent posters of useful information.

Thanks for expanding this tho. Members like Thuggen will most likely feel much more accepted.

-- Posted by Spice at 11:34 pm on Dec. 28, 2006

Cool. Definitely one for support.

Strict rules in here I'm hoping!

Pretty much. I have mixed feelings about this one but we'll see how it goes.

This is a pretty awesome forum. I'm sure there are people who'd find it very helpful.

-- Posted by bradley007 at 12:19 am on Dec. 29, 2006

lol.
as good as this forum may be, its going to get trolled to hell and back.

-- Posted by nikki at 12:52 am on Dec. 29, 2006

This is a good basic idea, but can it not be incorporated into another forum? I don't think it'll get much use, and as Bradley said, it's gonna get trolled.

-- Posted by Shawn06 at 2:58 am on Dec. 29, 2006

I think it's a great idea. Helpful, too.

Yay, new forum! Good one.

-- Posted by Kuzaki at 6:30 am on Dec. 29, 2006

Good idea for a new forum.

-- Posted by carbonara at 6:36 am on Dec. 29, 2006

I actually don't think this was such a great idea. There are alot of teens here who obviously can't deal with the fact that the world has disabled people in it. Thus making ridiculous topics simply ridiculing those in a cruel way and it can be hurtful. Its those naive idiots who ruin it for the rest.

In theory this is a brilliant idea, being a support forum and all but putting it into practise right now doesn't seem too clever.

Good Idea.

Personally, I think that this could have been incorporated into another forum.  But what the heck, let's see how it goes.

I understand what you mean, but it's sad that that's the case. As a support forum Livewire should come down harsher on trolls who seem to get away with it because for some bizarre reason they are liked by others.

I think this is a great idea!

So do I. I babysit a young man (3 1/2 yo) who has spina bifida. And my step-mother has MS, although so far the meds she's taking are keeping the physical symptoms at bay.

-- Posted by Alan18 at 8:15 am on Dec. 30, 2006

Cool.

-- Posted by Seanee at 1:16 pm on Dec. 30, 2006

I don't think it's such a wonderful idea.

Would you explain why?

-- Posted by Glow Worm at 9:26 pm on Dec. 30, 2006

I think it's a great idea, but it'll get trolled like there's no tomorrow.

I really hope there are a couple mods on this, because I can definatly see some teenagers making bad jokes and inapropriate comments.

Exactly - if trolls come and try and destroy this place, then we'll remove the posts and crack down on those concerned.

-- Posted by Thriftweed at 1:14 am on Jan. 2, 2007

Hey David, could you make a forum for people who are left-handed and tall to talk about being left-handed and tall next? Last I heard, there were a handful of those on Livewire and it would be awful nasty of you to neglect them.

-- Posted by openeyed at 10:36 am on Jan. 3, 2007

I was thinking, could we make a topic (where people don't reply) outlining the disability they know of and perhaps some advice dealing / coping with it?

Just I know when I was diagnosed it helped to have something I could show people that told them what my AS was. I'd be happy to do one for AS (Asperger Syndrome) and it may help others open their eyes to what some are really like.

good idea
