There's already leaks of the Retail Vista Version....

Anyone here uses it? Where did you download it from? The LimeWire results are all BS.

How is it?

When's the official release date, btw?

I have a legal beta from Microsoft. I stopped using it, though. One day, it went apeshit, said my account had been changed from the internet, and only allowed me to use Internet Explorer.

It's no different than Windows XP, it just has a stupid interface, stupid "security" alerts that bother you for everything, and uses an excessive amount of memory.

Not I... I want to wait for all the tweaks to be figured out and corrected first.

I'm happy with my win xp right now.

I heard that it's supposed to be released this January, but I don't remember. Sometime this year.

Looks good, but I bet it takes up not only a shitload of memory, but probably wouldn't work well on older computers because of the interface and it just seems... clunky. Some of the features seem interesting, but I definitely wouldn't get it for the computer I have right now. It would just crash >_<

I'm not even gonna bother. Too much of a memory hog.

-- Posted by AtomicCactus at 9:19 pm on Jan. 6, 2007

I'm waiting for the summer when it is natively supported by the laptops on the market.

I'll get it once hell freezes over.

As for getting or having it, I can't I don't meet the minumin of RAM or HDD.

*100th Post :P*

well yeah its designed to be more media-oriented, hence the need for high-performance (expensive) computers. at least on the vista suvey MS puts out, there is a question if i think Vista is ready to be released

-- Posted by soldierofjustice3 at 2:49 am on Jan. 12, 2007

Im a fan of the *idea* of it. I had the beta, but I ditched it. Bug's in a beta are one thing, but this was excessive.

Hmmm, I beg to differ.

Just like XP was a candy coated version of Windows 2000, it has also had many tweaks under the hood.

Vista includes many new tools, and features.

Such as...

-Side bar (microsoft's answer to apple's dashboard)
-Error correction (which rarely works)
- Aero theme (a smooth new interface)
- any many other things (which I'm lazy and tired ATM, so I don't feel like listing all of them).

Over all, I Microsoft did a pretty shitty job on the performance side. They just moved 25% of the virtual memory, to physical memory and called it state of the art technology.

So, Enterprise edition may give you better support being that the person who payed for it payed the extra money.
