Someone who has exchanged their soul for a calculator and is subsequently good at math and avoiding taxes.

Payment is proportional to skill.

Depends. Some accountants can make in the private sector upwards of $250,000.

Starting (out of college) usually ranges from $40-65k.

My cousin started as accountant in his own firm before graduating--his wife (already graduated) signed and stamped all the job he did. That was about four years ago. Right now he's heading an accounting firm with branches in four cities and opening a fifth, and has around 30 employees per branch, and hundreds of clients at each branch. He'll be a millionaire soon, if he isn't one now.

Of course, he's an intelligent man. I don't know about you.
