okay so i don't feel extremely sad and in no way do i want to end my life... but for some reason i just love to watch myself bleed... i cut myself quite a bit... and i used to burn myself... pretty badly too... but i don't feel sad... i just find the need to watch myself bleed... is that technically depression?

You can't expect that depression has a specific set of symptoms and you can't expect some bored teenagers to diagnose you over the internet.

It may depression, it sounds like it to me. I suggest finding a different way to cope with your feelings, I know it's easier said than done. Because I do not think cutting is a good way to go. Maybe your cutting may even be a habit/addiction? I don't know. Maybe you should consider counseling, I know it's always good to talk to someone about things, you know, let it all out, they may help you discover the real cause of it, that way you can fight it, you know? So, you can get over your depression! I wish you all the luck in the world. No one deserves to be depressed, and well, hon, I care about you and I don't want you to be sad or hurt! I hope you find some solace soon!

Have you been feeling tired and depressed lately? Before you assume that you need an antidepressant, you might want to consider having your thyroid checked. Hypothyroidism, a disease in which the thyroid gland fails to produce enough thyroid hormone, can mimic the symptoms of depression. Fatigue, sleepiness, slowing of speech, a lack of interest in personal relationships and general apathy are signs of clinical depression as well as hypothyroidism.

see that's just the thing... i'm not overly sad or tired or not wanting people around me... i'm just more addicted to watching my blood ooze out of me... and i really want a relationship... so idk....

Eh, it doesn't sound much like depression, just from what you've told us. I think you could pretty safely leave depression out of the equation, actually, and focus on the issue of cutting. If you're wanting to stop it (and I'd advise trying to at least tone it down), there are some great lists of things to do INSTEAD of cutting. Try this website, particularly this page: http://www.selfharm.net/fself.html There's a section down there for things to do when you're wanting to see blood. --- taken from the site ---- Draw on yourself with a red felt-tip pen. Take a small bottle of liquid red food coloring and warm it slightly by dropping it into a cup of hot water for a few minutes. Uncap the bottle and press its tip against the place you want to cut. Draw the bottle in a cutting motion while squeezing it slightly to let the food color trickle out. Draw on the areas you want to cut using ice that you've made by dropping six or seven drops of red food color into each of the ice-cube tray wells. Paint yourself with red tempera paint. -------------------------------
