You transfer all the files you want to keep onto another computer or cd. Get your reformatting CDS. Put them in, turn the computer on and follow the steps.

If you don't know how, don't. You'll fuck something up.

what do i need? how do i go about doing it? have someone else do it? is it gonna cost for someone professionally to do it?

...your computer should come with recovery cds. You just need those.

Don't be in such a rush to turn your computer into a brain dead hunk of junk. Before you can reformat, you need to be able to boot it up with some kind of program. If not your OpSys, then a program specifically for formating your hard drive.

Do you have all the software CD's necessary to restore your programs once you get it reformatted?

There are 2 ways of formatting a computer.

One is if you're running on Windows XP, the CD of Windows XP contains a menu where you can reformat a computer.

Two is go to MS-DOS and type "format" then the drive of your hard disk...
