Instead, we would be better off if we made bigger bombs so we could kill more terrorists (okay maybe not but you get the picture). Art really serves no role in bettering the human race. Instead we should spend time pursuing the sciences and math so we can get bigger TVs, faster computers, and spaceships(lol) etc.   These things would help the human race advance, which art does not do. I watched a film once called 'Equilibrium'. In the film, personal belongings were banned, as i recall, so were emotions and forms of self expression. As shown in the film, and as logic should dictate, people aren't going to want to live their lives in a sedate, often futile fashion.
