Microsoft will only last for about 4 or 5 more years.

-- Posted by Fender at 2:51 am on Mar. 13, 2007

You're talking about the biggest, most successful business in the world here..

-- Posted by 420mike at 3:55 am on Mar. 13, 2007

I think Apple has a long way's to go.  Especially in the business world, and schools (for the most part).

I heard about "Linus" or whatever? Not sure what thats all about.

I think Microsoft will be top dog for a while still.

FOREVER

Apple is a bit too hippy for mainstream businesses and educational institutions to adopt at the moment.

Vista is just a minor stepping stone to their next huge product.  They said Vista is more evolutionary than revolutionary.  Windows Vienna will be totally different.

"But they said that about Vista..."

Heh.

Uhh, no, its quite big in the graphics design and web development industry, and its also fairly big in the education sector.

I would make some comment about linux, but I cant see it becoming particularly mainstream for a few more years.

We'll see what happens with Windows Vienna, they have said you will work with your computer in a completely different manner then ever before, we'll see.

Microsoft is the leader because they have the most user-friendly environments in thier products.

They probably will lead for a long time.

-- Posted by rchaneberg at 11:27 am on Mar. 20, 2007

That depends on whether Apple can actually acquire some market share, and start marketing to low and medium end users.

No, the reason Windows is so prevalent is because of licensing. Try to learn a little about what you're talking about.

-- Posted by deadhead170 at 4:44 pm on Mar. 20, 2007

You mean the complete monopoly they had? your right i could'nt be bothered with microsoft, im a debian user

-- Posted by ajm51987 at 8:44 pm on Mar. 20, 2007

The complete monopoly they had. Hahah, you are priceless sir. I also like your debian comment, nobody gives a hunk of shit what OS you use.

-- Posted by ViTALiTY at 8:46 pm on Mar. 20, 2007

im less than 10 years linux will dominate over 50% of the market

-- Posted by ajm51987 at 8:51 pm on Mar. 20, 2007

I have no doubt that linux is posed to take some market share. I'm a happy linux user myself. The fact of the matter is, Microsoft has done a lot of things right, and they will be the dominate OS vendor for the foreseeable future. However, like I said, I think a lot of where they will be going hinges on Windows Vienna, the next installment due out.

if microsoft does not completly reengineer their next os there not going to be on top. dos is over-rated period.

Linux is an Operating System, not a company. And it's open source, so they can't make money off it.
Though I agree, Apple has a way to go.
