People don't just randomly come up with stereotypes. They exist for a reason. It may be because a group is very active. Or perhaps because the majority of a certain group acts in a certain way. The reasons vary but all stereotypes come from somewhere. While this by no means means that everybody falls under the stereotype (contrary to common belief there are rich black kids). But I will repeat, while it may not apply to everyone, the stereotypes come from somewhere. There ARE a lot of black kids doing/dealing drugs. There are a lot of Asians who get better test scores. There are a lot of white kids who come from middle-upper class white suburban families. While the stereotype may not completely define any given individual, they generally fall under their respective stereotype to differing degrees. So all in all, yes stereotypes aren't great but they exist for a reason. There are a lot more poor black gangsters doing drugs than there are Asian kids in the same situation. Etcetera
