Tattoos

What do your body tattoos, if any at all, mean to you?

-Show them off, explain the way they look as best as possible.

-Tell why they mean what they
mean to you, give a story on them.

-If you have one without a story behind it,
or maybe you don't think it counts as really
meaning much, then post it here, I am interested in all.

Post your first tattoo experience, how you felt, how it felt, cost, fear/anxiety, everything.

As I draw in closer and closer to my tattoo day, I get more antsy to hear stories from others. So, please, share a little.

EDIT: If you are not currently inked, then just share with me
what you'd like to get. Maybe I can help you get clear on
your is it you want, or help you draw it up.

You can message if you're brave enough.
I like to help with things like this.

Piercings
Do you have any body piercings? If so, where, when and why?
What do you think about radical piercings, such as corset piercings? And do you have any yourself?

Also post here if you have any questions regarding piercings, such as how painful certain piercings are, the best place to get them done, age limits and restrictions, care of the piercing, etc.

i want tattoos of butterfingers and cupcakes

-- Posted by turquoise at 9:38 pm on May 30, 2007

I don't have one yet, but my good friend is going to design one for me. It's going to be something that represents distance and time because I moved from France to America six years ago and since then, I have been missing a lot of people and the time it takes to finally see them again etc etc.

Awesose tattoo, great colour and detail. A pyxie flower is perfect, and it looks amazing.

Celtic styles have good designs qualities. I even just popped up with an idea for a tattoo to symbolize what you want done.

Inked members have failed me.

and were my first/second. Cost me like $220, took about an hour. Honestly, they didn't have a huge meaning beyond the stereotypical good/evil that they are. They're on my hips and didn't hurt very badly at all.

was my third. Cost me $400ish plus tip. Took 4.5 hours, and not complete yet. It's a Dia De Los Muertos theme, which I'll likely continue down the rest of my arm in time. It actually hurt pretty bad because it's so intricate.

And my latest...

Took like 4 hours, again, not finished yet. Calaveras winged skull. The phrase represents my feeling that I tend to not be very good for people. And that in general, things aren't always what they seem outside. Another like $450 piece so far. Chest. Actually better than the arm except a like 1x1 inch square part right between my tits around where "but" is.

Just make sure to take your time, get something custom with meaning to you, relax and you'll do fine hun.

Your chestpiece is amazing. I am trying to draw one up for myself, but am having trouble finding exactly what I want. I would like a Raven with it's wings spread out and it's talons spread as well.

I'm pretty committed to my Koi fish as my first one though.
Thanks for the comforting words, too.

*nods* It can take FOREVER. I didn't think that long on my hearts, maybe 1-2 months. But I thought about 14 months (mostly because 10 of those, I was pregnant lol) before my arm and like 8 for my specific chestpiece ontop of like 2 years of considering any sort of chestwork. Just thinking, searching and trying to come up with an idea. :-p It's so worth it in the end. I see so many lame girls with the exact same lower back tat or people with the exact same sparrows/swallows and shit. I know that no one else on the planet has my tattoos, unless they ripped them off me. :-)

i want to get a k in calligraphy on my wrist but im a baby and heard thats where it hurts the most.

-- Posted by Artistic Drain at 8:55 pm on May 31, 2007

I am thinking about getting one soon.

I have SO many things I want, but I know I should start small. I just can't decide on what.

But I am pretty sure it will be in the middle of my upper back. Which will hurt like fuck.

And I am scared!

I have an entire backpiece I am pulling together. I am shaking with anticipation to start on the first thing.

-- Posted by dunebug at 9:39 am on June 2, 2007

What's your backpiece going to be like? :-)

-- Posted by Periwinkle at 9:23 am on June 4, 2007

I want to get a tattoo on my inner wrist (left, just where the vein is, on the far side). If you've seen OverTheAir's new avatar (weird loopy curly thing, I'll try and post it in a sec), it's sort of like that, only evenly done. That pattern means something special to me. Not for a few years though.

It will have various Japanese themes pulled into it. I'm not sure exactly what's going to be there yet, as I'm only rough drafting it now, but trees and a woman will be included.

-- Posted by Killtyronedead at 10:14 pm on June 8, 2007

Well, you know about my back and forearm pieces, but I want one to my mom on my calf, a sleeve (not sure of what yet) and a few others.

I still have to finish yours. I haven't had a lot of time with graduation being right around the corner. But I didn't forget about you.

I really need to get a better photo. But if you really wanna see it, it is in my IB.

I have "Amo" which means "to love" in latin. It is my family motto. As my family is Celtic the font is "Aon Cari Celtic"

It's in the middle of my lower back.

That is the font I thought about for the word I want on the back of my neck.
I like it. And it's meaning it awesome too.

-- Posted by Spice at 10:22 am on June 9, 2007

The font is pretty swish, and I didn't want a curly/block font.

I mainly searched for Celtic fonts, and it's the one that stuck with me.

-- Posted by the raven at 10:24 am on June 9, 2007

The elvish font has been battling with my preference of the Celtic font that you have.

Which is why I am saving that particular tattoo for later. Who knows, it may not even go with the piece on my back, since I'd like it on the back of my neck. And I like things that match.

Tattoo Goo is an awesome brand to use. Works well on sunburns too.

-- Posted by Artistic Drain at 7:12 pm on June 9, 2007

I am using Preparation H  now. :P For hemorrhoids. Preeetty embarrassing buying that lol

Both the artist and pharmacists suggested it.

-- Posted by the raven at 7:13 pm on June 9, 2007

Try to find Tattoo Goo. It has Aloe Vera in it, awesome for healing. Soothes the pain pretty well too.

-- Posted by Artistic Drain at 7:14 pm on June 9, 2007

I have unscented cream with Aloe Vera in it already. And Oatmeal and stuff. I think I will use that once it is a bit more healed.
